strong economic activities
Best regards to everyone, it is my special pleasure to welcome you to our County website!
Our region has an immense potential! All the values of the mountain of Velebit and its slopes, Bukovica and Ravni Kotari, coast and islands with their climatic and geomorphologically unique features, as well as their traditional and cultural particularities, are the greatest comparative advantages in regional development planning and create the basic preconditions for the development of the whole area of the Zadar County.
In this area, the county has existed since the 9th century, as we can learn from the lintel of the church of St. Cross in Nin where an inscription by prefect Godečaj was carved. Since Godečaj’s County until our own, whose its life began on April 16th, 1993, many different rulers, states and systems have existed in this area.
The total area of the county is 7.486,91 km2. The land area is 3.641,91 km2, the sea area is 3.845.00 km2 and the island surface area is 587,6 km2. Geographically, it is situated in such a way that it comprises the northern Dalmatian coast and the hinterland Ravni Kotari and Bukovica.
